shells are semi-transparent shells that filters light beautifully and
are used for unique embellishments. Capiz shell papers are handmade
papers infused with thousands of capiz shells which gives glints of
irridescence throughout.
Making of Capiz Shell
- Wet water pulp is dried on a striated surface to create water
like texture.
- Then the opalescent capiz shells are grinded and pieces are
sprinkled on top of the wet paper pulp.
- When dry the pulp glistens with bits of the ground shell.
- Place the pulp in water and stir it well.
- With a screen lift the pulp.
- Allow the water to drain and leave the screen for drying.
- After dried, peel off the sheet of paper.
