type of stamp paper with thin parallel lines and thicker perpendicular
lines that are essentially watermarks. Stamps can be either vertically
or horizontally laid. The paper has a rich laid texture that speaks of
handmade craftsmanship. Laid is avaialble in the traditional laid finish
as well as a desktop-printer friendly imaging finish. Handmade Laid Paper is one of the
commonly used paper of Nepal.
Thick and thin lines on laid paper is at right angles made by the mold
having thin wires placed close to each other and fastened to thicker
wires. The thin wires are called the laid wires and the thick wires are
called chain lines.
Laid paper posses a distinctive look and a rich, crisp feel
characteristic. They are elegant and exotic and are available in a
spectrum of colors and sizes. When held to the light the paper shows
alternate light and dark crossed lines.
