using various paints, dyes and inks. Each sheet formed is unique and

Handmade Marbled paper probably reached Europe along the silk route
from the Far East, through India and Persia to Turkey. Merchants
returning from the Orient were the first to talk about Turkish paper and
paper with infinite patterns and shades with veins similar to those
found in marble.
An occasional imperfection is part of the character of these handmade
and hand decorated papers. These marble papers have a rustic appearance

work with marble papers.
Making
of Marble Paper
- Put water into a pan.
- Take oil based paint such as model paint and add turpentine to
thin the paint.
- Thin several desired colors.
- Add drops of all colors in water and the droplets will fan out
and cover the surface of water.
- Lay one edge of the paper on the water surface in the U shape
such that teh center of the paper touches the water surface.
- Do not let the colors submerge and lift immediately.
- Lay flat to dry.
