Recycled
paper is the end product of recycling. The production of recycled paper
has significant enviromental advantages over virgin paper productions.
Recycled paper has less impact on forest resources, less air pollution,
less water pollution, less water consumption, less energy consumption
and less solid waste. Recycled paper offers the greatest potential for
reducing landfill material while stimulating the market for recovered
paper and improved energy savings.
Recycled paper is made from waste paper, usually mixed with fresh wood
pulp. If the paper contains ink, the paper must be deinked. Almost all
paper can be recycled today but some papers that are waxed, pasted,
gummed or coated are difficult and expensive to recycle. Different
grades of paper are recycled into different types of new products.
Making of Recycled Paper
- Make a small square frame of a wire.
- Stretch a hose and cover the frame with it.
- Put a handfull of paper and some water in the food processor.
- Keep adding paper and water until you get a big gray blob.
- Keep the food processor on until the paper is disappeared.
- Add food coloring, dried leaves or lint to the pulp in the food
processor.
- Mix the sink water with the pulp you made.
- Scoop the frame to the bottom and allow the water to drain.
- Hang the frame and allow to dry.
- After completely dried, you'll find a thin recycled paper.
Applications
of Recycled Paper
- Recycled paper is used for high quality printing, including
four-color process and heat-set four-color web and cold web
printing.
- The paper has been bound for book publishing, including perfect
binding and hardcover books.
- Some companies and organizations use recycled paper for their
identity materials, including letterhead and envelopes.
- It is used for creating records which are retained for a short
time period and for records where the originals are on permanent
paper retained by the originating office and information copies are
on recycled paper.
- Also used for drafting documents, transaction control or
transmittal documents and envelopes.
