Fabriano Uno watercolor paper is a state-of-the-art watercolor paper
which meets the rigorous demands of the artist. Fabriano Uno bears one
of the first watermarks in recorded history, a simple cross symbolizing
the nobility of the paper. It was designed with input from American
artists working with Italian papermakers. The papermakers in Italy
designed this paper especially to rival the most popular French
watercolor paper.
The uno paper is available in a wide range of textures and finishes:
- In the rough finish the tooth is extremely even, gappy
but not very deep, and slightly lighter on the wire side; deckles
are small, thin and irregular. The color is medium white.
- In the cold pressed finish the paper has a subdued linen
texture, the deckles are thin and very ragged and the sizing is
slightly thin. The color is cool medium white.
- In the soft pressed finish the texture runs under a
slightly high pressure calendering. The color is cool gray white.
- In the Hot Pressed finish has a gentle eggshell texture,
clean of fiber imperfections, with an irregular, ghostly blanket
running across the felt side; the deckles are very thin, ragged, and
characterful. Color is a bright medium white.
