
Unryu,
which literally means "Cloud Dragon Paper," is made by adding
long swirling fibers to a basic kozo pulp. Unryu paper is white and
translucent. The design origin 'Unryu' comes from the illustrations in
the old days that dragons flying over the clouds (heaven) that means to
bring a good fortune to persons. The thin 'Unryu' paper, the most
selected Japanese traditional quality paper gives us more soft and
transparent feeling for fashion and table decoration paper.
Unryu paper is usually imported from Japan or Thailand. Each sheet is
too thin to fold individually, so you'll need to combine two sheets.
Once the sheets are combined you'll be able to fold whatever. The
backcoated unryu works great for folding complex models and especially
with wet folding.
Types of Unryu Paper
- Thai Unryu Paper- Machine-made in Thailand of
100% kozo with a neutral pH. 35 lb (25 gsm), 25" × 37"
sheets. Light filters beautifully through this translucent paper and
displays each swirling fiber.
- Pastel Unryu Paper- Long, colored strands of
kozo provide subtle contrast and texture in these traditional style
unryus.
- Jewel Tone Unryu Paper- This lightweight paper
is translucent and have two deckled edges.
Applications
of Unryu Paper
The organic elegance of unryu paper makes it widely used in wedding
invitation providing an elegant and sophisticated look. It is used for
wrapping small items, flowers and various decorations. It gives a
tasteful and attractive feeling.
